 Assalamu Olaikum friends,

The Shawshank Redemption 1994

-----------------------------------------------------------------

The emergence of "Shashank Redemption" was a surprising phenomenon. At that time it was fairly well received by the audience but in the year of its release i.e. 1994 it was not a big movie at all. Forrest Gump, Pulp Fiction, The Lion King, To Live, Léon: The Professional, Interview with the Vampire: The Vampire Chronicles, Dumb and Dumber, Ace Ventura: Pet Detective, The Mask, Natural Born Killers, Speed, The Crow, Black Beauty and even Baby's Day Out were movies released that year. It was the best year for movie lovers! And Shashank's rise from the middle was like a fairy tale. Shashank is truly amazing to be one of the biggest movies of the last three decades and to stand out completely in the crowd of Dhamaka movies of 94. Over time, it has not only become a major movie, it has also been the most popular movie on IMDb's audience rating system for a long time. Some say the movie is over hyped, some say it is a hoax of the audience, and some say it is the contribution of IMDB's heartless rating policy... But keeping all controversies aside, this movie of 'Optimism' has maintained its position even after all these years. Here is some trivia about "Shashank Redemption".

1. The movie is based on a story by Stephen King:

Over the years, many of Stephen King's stories and novels have been adapted into films around the world. The horror genre for which Steven King is most popular has spawned most of his stories. But King's story is an exception. The popular movie 'Shawshank Redemption' was based on King's story "Rita Hayworth and the Shawshank Redemption" against the backdrop of prison life without supernatural elements. This text was published in King's book "Different Seasons".

2. "Shashank Redemption" is not the first time Stephen King and director King and director Frank Darabont have worked together.

King first came onto Darabont's radar in 1983. He wanted to adapt King's short story "The Woman in the Room." King sold him the rights to his story for just one dollar. King is believed to have done this to give exposure to and help new, inexperienced directors.

3. Darabont took a long time to write the screenplay for Shashank.

King and Darabont developed a relationship during the planning stages of "The Woman in the Room". A few years later, Darabont approached King about his desire to work on "Rita Hayworth and the Shawshank Redemption". The King was not convinced by Derbant's proposal. However, he agreed to sell the rights to the story for $5,000. This happened in 1987. But even after getting the rights of the story, it took 6 years to make the screenplay of Shashank of Darbant. Darbant was able to complete Shashank's screenplay by coming in 1992.

4. After finishing the movie's script, Darabont approached Castle Rock, the production company behind the then-popular movie "Seinfeld," with "The Shawshank Redemption." Rob Reiner, one of Castle Rock's co-founders, loved the script. In fact, he liked it so much that he wanted to run it himself. He offered Darabont several million dollars for the script. But Darabont himself was adamant about directing Shawshank.

5. Everyone knows that Morgan Freeman played Red in the movie 'Shashank Redemption'. Red's character was that of an experienced criminal who befriended the hero Andy in the movie and gave him advice and guidance on life in prison. But the Red character in the movie was a little different from the original Red character of Stephen King. In the original story, Red was a white-skinned Irishman. Apparently Red, played by Freeman, was having none of it. In a funny scene in the movie, when Andy asks the black-born roped-in why everyone calls him Red, Red jokingly replies - "Maybe it's because I'm Irish."

6. Young Brad Pitt, then an unknown face and later popular hero, was first cast for the role of Shawshank's Tommy. Then, Pete was offered the movie "Thelma and Louise". Pete withdrew from Shawshank, feeling a better opportunity. He joined the departed Gil Bellows in Shashank as his debut movie.

7. Many viewers feel that the big success of "Shashank" is due to its environment and atmosphere. And everyone gives credit to the movie's cinematographer Roger Deakins for portraying the exact look and feel of the prison. This gentleman is considered one of the greatest of all time in his profession. He has been nominated for an Oscar 15 times in his career, winning twice. Deakins was a longtime associate of the controversial Coen Brothers. Again, Tim Robbins had an affinity with this team. When Robin was offered the role of Andy in Shashank, the director recommended Deakins as cinematographer to Darabont.

8. Shashank did not shoot in Maine. Most of Stephen King's stories are set in Maine, and Shawshank was no exception. But the truth is that no crew went to Maine for the shooting of Shashank.

Most of the movie was shot in Mansfield, Ohio. The prison scenes in the movie were shot at the Ohio State Reformatory. Also, none of Shawshank has been to Zihuatanejo, Mexico. Those scenes were shot in St. Croix

9. Stephen King is one of the most popular and famous authors ever One of the Many feel that mentioning King's involvement in the promotion of the movie helps at the box office. Many movies and TV shows have done so. But "Shashank" was an exception in this case. Only at the time of the movie's release was the story mentioned in King's Ta publicity. The makers of Shashank targeted a slightly upscale and prestigious audience. They were afraid that hearing the name of King, if these viewers think of light rice movies like 'Cujo' or 'Pet Cemetery', they may turn away!

10. "The Shawshank Redemption" is still a favorite movie for many. Although at first it was not so. In fact, "Shashank" managed to earn only 16 million US dollars after its release. Where its construction cost was 25 million US dollars. The movie was a big digester in the beginning. Later, when the movie got an international release, it turned around a lot. It eventually managed to gross US$58.3 million at the box office. The business account of a sky-rocketing popular movie like Shashank is certainly sad and surprising!…
